Now, the educational process at the Department of Invertebrate Zoology includes courses of lectures, laboratory works and field practical courses. The students study microscopical anatomy, embryology, ecology and biological diversity of Invertebrates. The lecture courses set includes Invertebrate Comparative Anatomy, Embryology, Parasitology, Biogeography, Molecular taxonomy and many others. In laboratory works, the students master modern methods of scanning and transmission electron microscopy, laser scanning microscopy, computer methods of 3D-reconstrutions and molecular systematics. The students have field practical courses at White Sea Biological Station, Biological Station “Glubokoe Ozero”, and Russian-Vietnamese tropical centre in Nha Trang.
