Research sectors: Diversity, evolution and ecology of crustacean copepods living in symbiosis with shallow water marine invertebrates (corals, sponges, echinoderms etc) or in deep-sea hydrothermal vents

Recent Scientific Activities: Deputy editor of the international scientific journal Invertebrate Zoology (since 2004). Editor of the international scientific journal Arthropoda Selecta (since 2005). Scientific editor of the World Register of Marine Species. Participant of the Marine Biodiversity and Ecosystem Functioning EU Network of Excellence. Co-organizer of two symposiums at the 4th International Congress on Invertebrate Morphology to be held in August 18–23, 2017 in Moscow, Russia. Invited speaker of the MeioScool2013: Meiofauna International Workshop, France. Speaker of the Plenary Session of the Fourth International Barcode of Life Conference, Adelaide, Australia, 2011. Chairman of the Symposium on Symbiotic Crustaceans: Diversity, Ecology and Evolution during the 7th International Crustacean Congress (ICC7), 20-25 June, 2010, Qingdao, China. Member of international projects and participant of international expeditions to deep water volcanoes of the Atlantic Ocean (2013) and in the shallow water of the southern Maldives (scientific leader), the Caribbean Island Statia, the Black, Japan and White seas, Australia (Heron and Lizard Island, Ningaloo Reef), French Polynesia (Moorea Island), the Red Sea (Saudi), Vietnam (NhaTrang) and China (Hainan Island) conducted in frame of the Russian-Vietnamese Tropical Scientific research and technology Center; projects in frame of Marine Biodiversity and Ecosystem Functioning EU Network of Excellence, Census of Diversity of Abyssal Marine Life (CeDAMar); Creefs Australia Field Program, Ocean Genome Legacy, the Moorea Biocode Project.
